INJURIES

At Chelsea and District Basketball Association (CADBA), we are committed to the health and safety of all our members. This page provides essential information regarding injury procedures, insurance coverage and healthcare options, ensuring our players, coaches, and staff know what steps to follow in the case of sports-related injuries.

If an injury occurs during any CADBA activity, it is essential to report the incident promptly. This allows us to offer the required support and ensures accurate documentation of all incidents.

Blood rule

The player or team responsible for blood spillage must ensure the affected area is cleaned promptly. Play must cease until all blood on the ground or equipment has been removed. Cleaning supplies including solution, rubber gloves, and paper towels are provided at the canteen. The solution should be left on for 5 minutes before wiping it up. If the match ball is contaminated with blood, the referee is responsible for initiating the cleaning process of the ball or exchanging it for a clean one from the designated area. It is mandatory to always use gloves and cleaning solution, followed by wiping with paper towels, all of which can be obtained from the canteen.

Concussions
Chelsea Basketball adheres to strict concussion protocols to handle such injuries to protect our member’s health.

Learn About Our Concussion Policy and Protocols – It is important for all members to understand how to recognise concussion symptoms and the steps to follow an incident.
